Hi, I’m Becky Barlow and I am the Chair for Hampshire West Junior Council. I am 24 and I am in my first year of teaching Art and Design at a secondary school in Alresford, nr Winchester. For the past 5 years I’ve been a Guide Guider and I have just been awarded my Queen’s Guide Award from HRH Sophie, Countess of Wessex. I am also going to Flame 2006 as Amazon’s activities co-ordinator.

As chair, it is my job to make sure that the Senior Section views are represented at County and Regional level, and to organise great things for Rangers, Young Leaders and Young Guiders to get involved with outside of the weekly meetings. We are currently organising a Senior Section Big Quiz, a Senior Section challenge day and we are going to be helping to organise Zero 6 – the region senior section weekend camp – which this year is at Foxlease!! If you have any problems or queries about anything ‘Senior Section’ or about Guiding in general – then contact me and we will try to help!
Hi, I’m Sarah Kent and I’m the Southampton West Division Representative on Hampshire West Junior Council. I’m 23 years old and currently working for the chemistry department at Southampton Uni. I started brownies aged 7 and never looked back! I took a small break while studying at Uni but am now back in the thick of it, being a Brownie Guider, working on look wider and my Queen’s Guide award. I shall be attending Innovate this summer and have just be to a 4 (peer education) basic training in Devon. I can be contacted by E-mail on sarah@bluerhinos.co.uk or on 07793215691, get in touch if you have queries, questions or comments.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________Hi, I'm Laura Dear and I'm the New Forest North Division Representative on Hampshire West Junior Council. I'm 17 and am in my first year studying A-Levels at Brockenhurst College. I have been a young leader with my unit 1st Testwood for almost a year now. I started Guiding as a Brownie, and then a Guide. Since becoming a Young Leader at our unit camp last year, I started to wonder what else there was I could get involved with outside of our weekly meetings. I am just about to start my Look Wider/Chief Guide Challenge, looking forward to Flame 2006 and am now a member of Hampshire West Junior Council! This is great, as we have a say about what we’d like to be involved in and organise. I had just joined and we ran a themed wide game at a BP Challenge Weekend, got to dress up in costumes and have a laugh! So, if you’re interested in doing that extra bit more and are 16+ just give Becky (HWJC chair) or one of us an E-mail. My E-mail address is laura_dear@hotmail.co.uk

_______________________________________________________________________________________________Hi, I’m Ellie Thurley and I’m the Southampton East Division Representative on the Hampshire West Junior Council. I’m 23 years old and am studying for a Masters in Audiology at Southampton Uni. I started Guiding when I was 18 and was looking for something to do as my service element of my Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. I discovered that I really enjoy guiding and I am now a warranted Guide, Brownie and Rainbow Guider. I am a member of Southampton SSAGO, which is a good way to stay in contact with guiding while at university. My next challenge is working on my Queen’s Guide award, going to Innovate in July and Flame in August. I am also working with the Division Commissioner in Southampton East Division to set up a Senior Section unit and our first meeting is planned for 27 April, please feel free to come along! Hampshire West Junior council is a great way for me to keep informed on Senior Section events at all levels and another way to put something back into guiding and help at events. My E-mail contact is ekt105@soton.ac.uk
