Flame 2006
Pre-Camp Challenge Badge Order

The pre-camp challenge has been designed for all members of Girlguiding Hampshire West.  Flame 2006 participants from the rest of the and overseas will also be able to take part in their lead up to camp.  It can be completed by all sections from Rainbows to the Trefoil Guild and you do not need to be coming to camp to take on the challenge.
The badge for the pre-camp challenge will be different to the main camp badge.  It will be slightly smaller, square and have a red edging to distinguish it from the necker badge.  The badge will be available to order by using the form below.  We expect the badges to be available at the end of the autumn term and will be posted out in January.  15p has been added to the price of the badges and this money will go towards helping some of the overseas visitors come to Flame 2006.

Why not come and join this year and make it an even bigger success.

A Project Of Samaritan’s Purse

Last year over 1.1 million shoeboxes were sent out from the UK to children in countries such as Romania, Mozambique, Kyrgyzstan, Serbia, Croatia and Russia, this year we hope to send even more, internationally 7.4 million boxes were distributed worldwide, including some to countries devastated by the tsunami. Imagine the surprise of children in Mozambique opening boxes to find toy elephants and tigers!

If you would like to get involved and for someone to come and talk to your group, to help you prepare your shoeboxes, please contact me Mary Savage, Unit Guider for 1st Lockerley Brownies (see below) and Julia Barnett, Unit Helper for 1st Lockerley Guides as we are both representatives for Samaritans Purse and can show you pictures of where the boxes go and tell you about other projects run by the charity.

As many of you know this is a very real way to understand the true meaning of Christmas, with children sharing their love and gifts with others around the world. If you need resources then please contact the website: www.samaritanspurse.uk.com or the helpline Tel 0870 011 2002. Equally if your group can help in Nov/early Dec to process the shoeboxes in the Eastleigh warehouse please contact Roger Fenton 02380 618963. Thank you for your support
