After the announcements from the Prime Minister and Girlguiding, it has been decided to postpone all the County’s Golden events planned for this year and to move them all to 2021. We are hoping to keep them in the same weekends as 2020, except for the Rainbow event. Thank you to those leaders who had already sent in application forms, we’ve made contact with these leaders to discuss their options. This has been a really hard decision to make but we feel the right one, as there is still uncertainty as to when we will be returning to usual unit meetings and to when the ban to hold large scale events will be lifted. Once we have secured all the bookings for 2021, we will let everyone know through the usual channels of communication. If you have any queries, regarding the events please email Jayne or Angela - email@example.com
Golden Jubilee Challenge and Badges
The challenge is designed to be accessible to all. It is a personal challenge and can be completed individually or as a unit/group. Some challenges can be completed in conjunction with skills builders or UMA’s. Everyone will need to collect 50 points in each section to gain each of the coloured 50’ badges. Please share how you have completed the challenges or ask for suggestions on the Facebook page: Girlguiding Hampshire Golden Challenge
Although the County’s Golden Jubilee Challenge should have been completed by 31st December 2020 during the county’s golden year, this hasn’t been possible for some members. Therefore, as all units already have the badges for their girls, I would suggest that you continue to encourage the girls to work on the badge independently at home, maybe set a weekly challenge for them to complete a certain clause and share with you how they have completed it, which is how many units used the challenge during lockdown to stay connected with their girls. A condensed version of the challenge that has been re-worded slightly so members can complete it at home can be found below.
Badges have been given to commissioners and include a full set of all seven badges for each member in the county. If girls move units, please could leaders pass on details of challenges completed and any coloured ‘50’ badges not completed. Please do not request any additional badges during this time as none will be sent out until we return to unit meetings. Once you have been back a few weeks and know your numbers, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org
