Are you looking for a new challenge at County level? There are opportunities to be an Adviser, join task and finish groups and committees or deliver trainings, each requiring different interests and experiences. Volunteering for a County role will provide you with a chance to learn new skills and to meet other members from across the County.
Join the County International team
Are you passionate about international Guiding? Would you like to pass on your enthusiasm to others?
Having taken over as County International Adviser earlier this year, I’m making some changes to the way we promote and support international guiding in Hampshire West. I’m looking for a small team of four to help me with each of the following roles:
Some of these roles would benefit from first-hand experience of travelling internationally through Guiding – but this isn’t essential for all of them. For example, to support members with fundraising advice, it’s more important that you are well-organised and good at fact-finding while an experienced unit leader might be just what we need to encourage leaders to introduce international activities into their unit.
If you are interested in any of these roles, please email me at international_adviser@gghw.org.uk.
I’m happy to chat informally and without commitment but if you already have an idea of which of the above roles would interest you, please do include that information.
Once this team is in place, we will also be looking for adults and girls across the county who would be prepared to join a new network of international champions. This will be a really informal role, with no fixed term of office and no fixed time commitment. You simply need to be someone who has travelled internationally through Guiding and would be prepared to be contacted to share your experience with others who are considering taking the first step. This could be on a one to one basis or could involve talking to a unit or group of adults about your experience. More about this one to follow…
