Young Leaders

Register your Interest

If you want to get stuck in and help run a unit, and are between the ages of 14 and 16, then the Young Leader Qualification (YLQ) is just the thing for you! Develop your leadership skills in a rewarding and fun way by gaining the YLQ.

The Qualification consists of two modules:

Module 1 – Your role in the programme
This helps develop your leadership and programme-planning skills to enable you to give the girls a good and fun experience of guiding.

Module 2 – Your role in Girlguiding UK
This develops your understanding of the Promise and gets you involved with local guiding to share your skills and learn from others.

You can remain a Young Leader up to the age of 18. If you would like to take your leadership role further, then at 16 you can begin the Adult Leadership Qualification. Everything you do on the Young Leader Qualification will count towards the Leadership Qualification, which means you’ll have a real head start!
